American Saxophonist, Composer and Arranger

Started becoming fascinated by sounds at the age of 5 with pots, pans and wooden spoons. Then homed in on the organization of pitches after picking up the recorder at the age of 7. After that came the years of formulation, manipulation and organization; eventually picking up the saxophone at age 10. Since then life has been driven by the developing personality and creationism of my musical experience.
In essence my musical experience is a window into an obsessive-compulsive hodgepodge of my life; on display for anyone but meant for no one. My music is an expressionistic collection of my experiences transduced into vibrations as a way for me to continue my cycle. I don’t want everyone to listen to my music, that is not my goal.
My goal: The portrayal of music in the most authentic and genuine form.
Doing this is the fastest way to connect with how people are affected by my music–no nonsense.
The music of GRAMMY-Award Nominated American saxophonist and composer David Mason is portrayed through inevitable melodies and the orchestration of humanistic gesturing throughout unique sonic landscapes. His debut single Balance was recorded and released in early 2023 and received rave reviews. David tours with and writes for five time GRAMMY-award winning artist Samara Joy. He has recorded for other GRAMMY-Award Winning artists such as John Daversa and performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, Austin City Limits and countless others. David has arranged and orchestrated for the Boston Pops and the BBC Concert Orchestra. In addition, David has done transcription and arrangement work for Robert Glasper.
While obtaining his master’s degree under the tutelage of Marcus Strickland from the University of Miami, David taught private saxophone lessons, improvisation, composition classes and ensembles for graduate and undergraduate students.
